The main concept of MUNIE products is to recycle water hyacinths, those plants that proliferate in all the rivers of Thailand, and notably the Chao Praya river, and constitute a natural pollution. From water hyacinths we obtain a yarn which we then mix with cotton and weave into fabrics.
Hello, my name is 'Munie"
Thank you for visiting our website. I would like to take the opportunity to tell you more about our products and about the project and values that are behind them.
MUNIE is a brand of Thai sustainable craft products. MUNIE stands for:
For its production, MUNIE works exclusively with local communities in North Eastern Thailand. Several groups of elderly women use traditional handmade techniques. This allows such traditional techniques that are part of the Thai culture not only to be maintained alive but also to be transmitted to the younger generation. Support to local communities, transmission of knowledge and empowerment of women are among our central values.
Our products are dyed using only natural plants such as mango leaves, coconut shell, indigo or marigold. This limits substantially our footprint on the environment.
Our products are made to last not to quickly become waste as so many of the fast fashion products. This is also how we mean sustainability.
Let’s together make the world better, cleaner, fairer and more sustainable.
Acquiring a MUNIE product will not only give this unique feeling of a high quality, natural and comfortable product. You will also contribute at your level to the concrete implementation of several of the UN’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG): SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities) and SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production).
