About MUNIE
Fashion and Lifestyle from Water Hyacinth
In today’s world, where environmental concerns are more pressing than ever, creating beautiful products that also care for the planet has become essential. MUNIE, a Thai brand inspired by solving the overgrowth of water hyacinth in rivers, transforms this aquatic plant into natural fibers, handwoven into sustainable and eco-friendly products.

MUNIE STORY
From Environmental Problem to Inspiration
MUNIE’s journey began with a daily commute along rivers filled with water hyacinth. While many saw it as a nuisance, the founder saw potential. Collected plants are dried, handwoven by local artisans, and designed into contemporary pieces suitable for global markets.
Natural dyes extracted from tree bark, leaves, and flowers ensure that every piece is safe for users and the environment. This process aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in resource conservation and community income generation.
Local Artisans
For its production, MUNIE works exclusively with local communities in North Eastern Thailand. Several groups of elderly women use traditional handmade techniques. This allows such traditional techniques that are part of the Thai culture not only to be maintained alive but also to be transmitted to the younger generation. Support to local communities, transmission of knowledge and empowerment of women are among our central values.

Sustainable Design
Our products are dyed using only natural plants such as mango leaves, coconut shell, indigo or marigold. This limits substantially our footprint on the environment.
Our products are made to last not to quickly become waste as so many of the fast fashion products. This is also how we mean sustainability.

Let’s together make the world better, cleaner, fairer and more sustainable.
Acquiring a MUNIE product will not only give this unique feeling of a high quality, natural and comfortable product. You will also contribute at your level to the concrete implementation of several of the UN’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG): SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities) and SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production).
